Featured Development: Downtown Dubai

Downtown Dubai, previously known as Downtown Burj Dubai, is a large-scale mixed-use complex in central Dubai. It is home to some of the city's and even the world’s most iconic landmarks including Burj Khalifa, Dubai Mall and Dubai Fountain.



Covering an area of 2 km², the development is includes popular residential projects such as: The Old Town and The Old Town Island, The Residences, South Ridge, Burj Views and The Lofts. All of these are high-rise towers except for Old Town which is mostly low to mid-rise buildings in the more traditional Arabic style. The Address Downtown Dubai and The Address Dubai Mall are very popular luxury hotels but also offer residential serviced hotel apartments. Apart from the two Address Hotels, there are three further hotels representing different styles which successfully reflects the balance between traditional and modern in Downtown Dubai.



Apart from shopping in dining in Dubai Mall, residents and tourists alike can enjoy the contrasting traditionally styled Souk al Bahar, which is also located opposite the Dubai Fountains and boasts fantastic views and scenery especially at night.  


At the edge of Downtown Dubai is Emaar Square, which is a low-rise office complex with some of the most ell-known banks headquartered there. 



On a more macro-geographical level, Downtown Dubai is situated along Sheikh Zayed Road. It is bounded to the south by Business Bay and to the north-east by Financial Centre Road and DIFC. It is conveniently connected to the Dubai Metro via the Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall Metro Station and the First Interchange, which is in the last phases of construction, will guarantee the free flow of traffic to and from the area.



Overall, Downtown Dubai has proven to be greatly successful in that it has created a new centre for work, life and leisure in Dubai. Whereas before Dubai Marina was greatly popular for expats and locals alike, Downtown Dubai has given a new dimension to Dubai in that it elegantly combines modern and traditional architecture and creates a refreshing balance between varying lifestyles for all to enjoy.
