Punta Gorda

Situated 100 miles south of Tampa, 54 miles south of Sarasota, and 24 miles north of Fort Myers, is the gem of Southwest Florida, the charming City of Punta Gorda.  Upon exiting I-75 at Exit 164 drive west on Marion Avenue (U.S. 17) and you will shortly pass through the quaint downtown, with its restaurants and shops. Continue west between the rows of stately royal palms as you enter the Historic District, with its numerous turn-of-the-century homes, and then past Fisherman’s Village and into Punta Gorda Isles, the premier boating and golfing community on Florida’s West Coast.  

Founded in 1887 as a small fishing village at the confluence of the Peace River and Charlotte Harbor, Punta Gorda somehow has maintained its Victorian-era charm.  Walking or bicycle riding along Retta Esplanade and through Gilchrist Park or watching a fabulous Southwest Florida sunset over Charlotte Harbor from one of the Fisherman’s Village restaurants will be all it takes to convince you that you have truly come home.
