Fort Lauderdale- Las Olas
Fort Lauderdale- "The Venice of America", is known worldwide for a unique and intricate canal system that connects the city with the Intracoastal Waterway. Fort Lauderdale also boasts dockage for 42,000 yachts at more than 120 marinas and boatyards. Located mid-point between South Beach and Palm Beach, the city is also home to over 4,100 restaurants and 120 nightclubs.
The climate of Fort Lauderdale is truly tropical. The summers are hot and humid and the winters are warm and dry with occasional cold fronts from November to March. However, the average temperature is around 74 degrees Fahrenheit. The majority of the year is warm and can be likened to the Caribbean tropics.
The economy of Fort Lauderdale is highly dependent on tourism. While the city was a popular spring break destination from the 40s to the 80s, now, year-round-visitors as well as cruise shipd and nautical recreation support a consistent flow of business and entertainment activities. Instead of attracting the college crowd, the city attracts a more affluent tourist today.
In the past decade, numerous high-rise condominium developments have exploded, particularly around Las Olas Boulevard. The downtown area has also seen a number of new improvements including boutiques, art galleries, universities and restaurants.
If you are looking for a luxurious, beachfront condo, a waterfront home with dockage, or a convenient and well-appointed townhouse in the sunshine, then you'll find excellent options in the South Florida area.
