Welcome to Engel & Völkers Hartbeespoort Dam

Hartbeespoort Dam, also known as “Harties”, is situated in the North West Province of South Africa, about 35 kilometres west of Pretoria and 50km north-west of Johannesburg.

The name “Hartbeespoort” means "pass of the hartbees" (a species of antelope), in Afrikaans. The dam, with its spectacular scenery and unique villages and estates surrounding it, enjoys peaceful tranquillity and a picturesque countryside setting, yet is conveniently within close proximity to all modern day amenities and facilities, which is why “Harties” is widely referred to as “Close to the city, out of this world!”

“Harties” lies in a valley between some of the oldest mountain ranges of the world, the Magaliesberg and the Witwatersberg, with the World Heritage Site of “The Cradle of Humankind” situated along the southern periphery. Hartbeespoort is also on the doorstep of the “Platinum Mile”, where over 80% of the world’s Platinum is mined, which together with agriculture and tourism provides the economic mainstay of the region.

The villages surrounding Hartbeespoort, namely Kosmos, Melodie, Ifafi and Meerhof, together with internationally renowned estates such as Pecanwood Golf Estate and Caribbean Beach Club, are found around and along the shores of the dam, among undulating hills offering panoramic views of the dam and the majestic mountainous countryside.

Hartbeespoort features some of the most sought after residential and investment properties, catering for permanent residency as well as being a popular leisure destination, for weekend getaways from the cities nearby and also for international visitors, due to a warm climate and an abundance of tourism activities in the area.
