The municipality is located in the judicial district of Schwaz, on a terrace of the Lower Inn Valley, at the northern foothills of the Tux Alps. The populated area extends over seven hamlets, which can be reached via a road from Schwaz or from Buch in Tyrol. The popular residential community currently has about 700 inhabitants. East of the trench and the Bucher Bach lies the hamlet of Gattern. The highest point of the municipality of Gallzein is the Gratzenjoch at 1998 m. The district capital Schwaz is nearby and is about 30 km from the state capital Innsbruck. Schwaz offers everything needed for daily life and the infrastructure is excellent. Numerous shops, doctors, pharmacies, restaurants, and bars enliven this beautiful city on the Inn. Schwaz gained fame with mining as early as the 16th century and even earlier. As early as the Bronze Age, copper was mined in the mountains between Schwaz and Kitzbühel, which was needed along with tin to produce bronze. In Gallzein, winter hikes are very popular, and the well-known toboggan run in the high-lying Gallzein district of Koglmoos leads from the mountain inn to the Gallzein municipal office. Around the area, there are beautiful ski resorts, such as the Glungezer and the Hecher near Schwaz. The Kellerjochbahn and the Schwaz-Pill lifts, as well as the nearby well-known Zillertal, invite you to engage in sports. In summer, you will find a very beautiful and quiet hiking area that ensures pure relaxation. The distance to Schwaz is about 3 minutes by car, Innsbruck is 15 minutes away, and via the A12, you can reach Munich in less than 50 minutes.
