Location: Sa Pobla, Balearic Islands
Sa Pobla is a busy agricultural town located inland between Inca and Alcúdia. It is an important community of around 12,000 inhabitants, known for vegetable production, especially potatoes grown in the fertile soil of the one-kilometre-long fields. The Fira Nocturna de la Patata (Night Potato Fair) is held here once a year. Traditional and modern potato dishes are served, accompanied by live music from local bands. The beautiful Playa de Muro (Muro Beach) is only 10 km away. The drive to Palma Airport takes about 30 minutes. It is believed that Sa Pobla was founded during the Roman conquest of the island by Consul Quintus Caecilius Metellus in 123 BC. Parts of the area lie within the Albufera Nature Reserve (Parc natural de s'Albufera), a protected wetland where you can observe bird species and enjoy hiking. The area around Sa Pobla is a paradise for cyclists. The well-known “312” cycling race starts at the nearby Playa de Muro. On 16 and 17 January, the town celebrates its patron saint Sant Antoni with bonfires, a fireworks display, live music, and delicious grilled specialties. If you are planning a visit in August, we recommend the Sa Pobla Jazz Festival, held here since 1994 and featuring more than 15 national and international artists. For clients looking for a property in Pollença, Sa Pobla is an excellent second option, where house prices are more affordable. Particularly interesting is Crestatx, a residential area with direct access to the motorway and is also the location for the only private, international school in the north of the island – MySchool.
