Borgo Pian di Rocca: new build near the sea

The history of Pian di Rocca has its roots in antiquity. The area was already frequented in Etruscan and Roman times, as evidenced by the archaeological finds discovered in the nearby locality of Val Berretta. For centuries the territory was characterized by marshes and swamps, until the major land-reclamation works promoted in the 18th century by the House of Lorraine and directed by the engineer and hydraulic expert Leonardo Ximenes, which transformed this part of the Maremma into one of the most fertile rural areas in Tuscany.

It was precisely in that period that the historic Pian di Rocca Farm Estate was established, around which the small rural hamlet developed, made up of farmsteads, sharecroppers’ houses and the Chapel of Saint Rita, still today a testament to the area’s agricultural history. In 1952, with the land reform, the large estate was divided among numerous farming families, helping to shape the territory’s present-day identity.

Today Pian di Rocca preserves the authentic charm of the Maremma countryside, where nature, tradition and quality of life coexist in perfect balance. Just a few minutes from the beaches of Le Rocchette and from the historic center of Castiglione della Pescaia, it is one of the most sought-after locations for those who wish to live in a private setting, surrounded by greenery, without giving up proximity to the sea and key services.
