The Cerdanya valley, framed by the Catalan Pyrenees, with iconic views of mountains such as the Cadí Range and the Tosa d’Alp, among others, offers an unbeatable place to live or spend holiday periods. Its privileges include many sunny days throughout the year, mild summer temperatures, postcard scenery in spring and autumn, and a winter surrounded by ski slopes. The village of Montellà, located at 1,300 meters above sea level, is part of the Baridà subregion, in the municipality of Montellà i Martinet, which includes the settlements of Beixec, Villec, Estana, Bastanist and Martinet. The area lies partly within the Cadí–Moixeró Natural Park and is surrounded by an extraordinary landscape, such as Prat de Cadí at the foot of the mountain, the Ridolaina valley, Prat d’Aguiló at 1,700 meters above sea level, or the Cristall and Bastanist gullies—ideal places for practicing different sports and activities in contact with Nature. It preserves notable architectural elements, such as the 16th-century church of Sant Genís de Montellà and the parish church of Sant Sadurní, famous for its square tower bell tower. During the final years of the 20th century, most of the old houses, as well as the central square, were restored, thereby recovering the spirit and authenticity of a traditional mountain village.
