Arizzano is a small town of nearly 2,000 inhabitants located along the via Nuova Intra – Premeno, a road that connects Verbania and Lake Maggiore to the mountain location of Premeno. Situated at an altitude of about 500 m above sea level and bathed in sunlight, this small town can be defined as a balcony over Lake Maggiore thanks to the breathtaking panoramic view where the green of the mountains embraces the crystal-clear waters of the Lake and iconic places in the area like the Borromean Islands and the heights of Stresa, the Lombard shore around Laveno, and the tip of Castagnola in Verbania. In the center of the village, you can visit the Parish of San Bernardo, a late Baroque church built in the seventeenth century on the remains of an old oratory that houses a wild marble sink but most importantly beautiful modern mosaics that cover its interior walls and floor. Located in the square of the former municipal building, we find the monumental mosaic titled Arizzano created by Walter Ferrarini with precious materials such as Venetian enamels and gold. Divided into panels, the mosaic represents the history of Arizzano through real and symbolic images. In the area of the Mills, on the border with the municipalities of Bee and Ghiffa, hiking enthusiasts can take the trail called “Little Tibet” and reach after an invigorating climb the famous Buddhist center Albagnano Meditation Healing Center or follow the road that leads to Ghiffa and then venture into the paths that start from the Caronio hamlet and reach the UNESCO heritage area of the Sacred Mountain of the Trinity.
