Located halfway between Chiavari and Rapallo, the village of Zoagli has ancient origins: prehistoric settlement, fief of the noble family of Fieschi of Lavagna and from the XIII century, dominion of the Republic of Genoa. At that time Zoagli became famous in the world for its production of precious silk velvets; the weaving activity was thus as important as the maritime activities. Today, the shield of Zoagli shows the symbolic colours of the two major brotherhoods: the blue of the sailors and the yellow of the weavers, with the effigy of the two towers built in 1500 to defend the village from pirate attacks.
