In a setting where the building itself has a direct relationship with the river, this former industrial property was once used for manufacturing wooden barrels for Port wine. Being an industrial structure, it originally featured large spans but few windows. The main goal of the project was therefore to introduce more openings, creating better views and greater natural light. However, this was done with great care for the surrounding context, following an extensive study of the location and similar buildings, ensuring full integration into the urban landscape without being disruptive. The same attention to detail was applied in the choice of façade colours, materials, and window frames, respecting the industrial architectural tradition along the Gaia riverside. The building itself comprises 20 units — two commercial spaces and 18 apartments — as well as eight parking spaces. All residential units are one-bedroom apartments, making the most of the available building potential. To take advantage of the views, 12 of these are duplex apartments offering river views from the bedrooms. Furthermore, given the rapid growth of Gaia’s property market, this represents an excellent investment opportunity.
