Engel & Völkers Yachting brokers 53-metre yacht

&#8226 One of the largest yacht transactions in February worldwide

Hamburg, 02 March 2010. The international market for luxury yachts is slowly recovering from the broader effects of the economic and financial crisis. In January 2010, 14 superyachts with a length of more than 24 metres were sold worldwide. This constitutes a significant increase compared to only four such superyachts sold in January 2009. Engel & Völkers Yachting has now brokered a 53-metre motor yacht called Pegaso to a European client. Despite the still difficult market conditions, we succeeded in closing a deal in the high-end segment, says Inigo Nicholson, Licence Partner at Engel & Völkers Yachting in Madrid. At an asking price of 26.5 million euros, this represents one of the largest transactions in February worldwide. Inigo Nicholson provided consultancy and liaised with both the buyer and seller throughout the course of the deal.

Built in Turkey in 2002, Pegaso is currently being refitted and painted. This work is due for completion by this summer, when she will be moored in the Mediterranean. Besides space for her crew-of-eleven, she also provides accommodation for up to twelve guests in a total of six cabins, each of which include their own en suite bathrooms. Two lounges, two dining rooms and a spacious sundeck with whirlpool offer ample space for guests on board. Pegaso has a maximum cruising speed of 14 knots.

Alongside the sale and leasehold of prestigious properties, Engel & Völkers has also been brokering yachts since November 2007, making it one of the first German based real estate companies to enter the yachting market. The yachting division thereby concentrates on the brokerage and chartering of luxury yachts. The company has a comprehensive network of shops and offices in 34 countries spread across four continents, as well as an extensive clientele reflecting the relevant target group. We have the advantage that we already enjoy close ties with those clients interested in exceptional homes in prime locations who may very well also be prospective buyers or charterers of luxury yachts at the same time, said Christian Völkers, CEO of Engel & Völkers AG.
