Property is not only the best investment for your future, but for your career as well.
Statistics from Committee for Education and Research in Central Real Estate Federation (ZIA) reported that there are currently 20.000 new jobs for real estate professionals in Germany, as fuelled by the strong growth of property companies. At present, one out of ten people in Germany works in the property market, with about 3.8 million people being active in residential and commercial property purchase and sales.
Richard Haimann, reporting for “Die Welt”, a German daily newspaper, explains how the whole eco-system of property development is part of the boom for jobs in the industry. Architects, real estate lawyers and merchants are leading his list for the most sought-after placements. In our experience, skilled agents who understand the discreet and demanding requirements of luxury property exchange are also in great demand.
As Haimann reports, the industry is steady in Germany and our studies show that Spain is a top market for building out new shop business. “Die Welt” reported that in Germany, office towers, shopping centers, malls and logistics properties were traded for a total value of 6.7 billion euros in the first quarter of this year already.
Given the recent flutter of shop openings in the Madrid area and the Metropolitan Market Center in Barcelona, we have seen that companies like ours been hiring consistently.
David Scheffler, Director of Expansion for EMEA at Engel & Völkers, commented on the trend: “We are proud to be part of the strong local property community in Spain, and are happy to celebrate the great successes of our franchise partners here. Our proven system for attracting and selling up-market properties has been the foundation of our business in Germany and Europe. With the downturn in Spain over the last couple of years, it is good to see that the system is also helpful to local business owners who want to continue expanding and developing their love for property. Our business has been so successful here, we are happy to say we are looking for new license partners and agents in Málaga, Granada, Cordoba, Seville, Segovia, Burgos, Avila, Toledo, Santander, La Coruña, San Sebastian, Oviedo, Gijón, Vitoria and Saragossa”, he said.
At Engel & Völkers, we have a systemised program for hiring and training experts. It has been proven in over 30 countries around the world and is the best reason why our growth has been consistent and strong.
Christian Völkers, CEO of Engel & Völkers, says it is the DNA of a company to be strongly organised: “The systematic organisation of the business in every detail and in all its operational stages is the key factor to success”.
Völkers continued: “We worked on fine-tuning this organisation for years – from the composition of our property descriptions through to the design of forms. The results are summarised in our operational guide, which deals with every step in the agency’s business; it consists of a file with hundreds of pages, which were still typewritten in the original version. It contains the company’s DNA and is constantly revised and updated”.
