The Olympic Village is one of the newest neighborhoods of Barcelona, which was created to house the athletes who participated in 1992 Olympic Games. The neighborhood was designed by renowned architects: Martorell, Bohigas, Mackay and Puigdomènech. Hotel Arts and Mapfre Tower, the two highest towers in Spain, have become symbols of the Olympic Village. Another famous element of the neighborhood is the Golden Fish, located next to the towers and constructed with metal sheets that change color depending on the sunlight.
The Olympic Village perfectly combines urban and green areas. You can enjoy the nature in the Gardens of Atlanta, where there is Can Folch chimney, one of the oldest in Barcelona.
It is impossible to describe the neighborhood without mentioning the Olympic Port, which was built for the games for recreational boating. It currently houses numerous bars and restaurants, which become nightclubs at night.
However, if you are not a night bird, you may prefer to go to the Olympic Port in the morning and stroll through the great promenade, perfect for sport.
