This year Barcelona’s Real Club de Polo will be hosting the 46th International Polo Tournament – Barcelona Polo Challenge – Negrita Cup during the last weekend of April and the first weekend in May. There will be three matches every day (Friday, Saturday and Sunday), which will pit teams of international players, with a medium handicap, against one another.
Four teams with a similar handicap, to achieve the maximum possible equality (Negrita RCPB, Unión Suiza, Ridecrins-Poliakov y Avenue 32) they will play all against all in the field of the Real Club de Polo de Barcelona.
Polo is a thrilling team sport in which the player and horse must be perfectly in tune in order to win. The technique and skill of the players are combined with the power and elegance of the horses.
Polo is one of the world’s oldest sports and involves two teams of four players whose aim is to score the most goals on a pitch measuring 250 m by 150 m wide.
The Barcelona Polo Challenge is a wonderful opportunity to experience this spectacular sport and a perfect excuse to visit Barcelona and it’s spectacular golden beaches in Castelldefels-Gava.
