Engel & Völkers restructures Management Board: Christian Völkers and Sven Odia undertake co-chairmanship

Hamburg, 8 October 2014. Engel & Völkers AG has come under co-management with effect from 1 October. Chairmanship of the Management Board will be shared in future by Christian Völkers, the company founder and sole CEO to date, and former Member of the Board Sven Odia. “I am very pleased that we have been able to appoint a ‘home-grown’ manager to this top position of responsibility. Sven Odia has been making his mark on the company and shaping it for the better for many years now already,” said Christian Völkers.

Sven Odia has been working for Engel & Völkers for 17 years now and is ideally qualified for his new role: after professional training in real estate management at Engel & Völkers, he went on to acquire one of the first E&V licences on Majorca in 1999. This was so successful that Engel & Völkers AG acquired it back at a later point in time and took over its management. In 2001, Sven Odia was appointed as Managing Partner of Engel & Völkers International GmbH, before being promoted to the Management Board of Engel & Völkers AG in 2006 and becoming a shareholder in 2009.

Sven Odia will head up all operative business activities worldwide in future, including global expansion and the opening and operation of all Engel & Völkers Metropolitan Market Centers (MMCs). The other Members of the Board will report to Sven Odia from now on regarding all operational matters. Brand management, Premium Marketing, the GG publishing house and the Private Office as well as corporate strategy will all remain under the jurisdiction of Christian Völkers.

With the introduction of co-management, Engel & Völkers AG is optimising its personnel structure in line with its continuing strong course of growth. Engel & Völkers is expanding in leaps and bounds – both in Europe and around the world. The Company will be continuing to drive forward its global activities at a fast pace in the years to come. “There are sure to be new and increasingly complex challenges along the way. I am confident that co-management places us in the best possible position to achieve our targets,” Christian Völkers added.
