Engel & Völkers – 94.7 Cycle Challenge

Taking the DARE to ride

The Engel & Völkers Cycle Team, along with 33 000 cyclists, took to the streets of Johannesburg on Sunday, 16th November to show their support of the DARE charity, who they represented in the Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge .

DARE is a focus group initiated by students with disabilities at The University of Johannesburg.  Ilse Haward, Team Leader at Engel & Völkers Broadacres says, “to have the honour of representing the DARE group during this major cycling event is not only a humbling experience, but a cause we are excited to be behind and make the public aware of”.

All 20 riders were kitted out in their shirts sponsored by Engel & Völkers Southern Africa and Andre van den Heever conveyancing attorneys.  The cyclists also received their goodie bags sponsored by Engel & Völkers and Dischem which contained sunscreen, a gym towel and a water bottle.

“The atmosphere at the Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge was exhilarating, said Craig Hutchison, CEO of Engel & Völkers Southern Africa.  “To have Engel & Völkers represented not only as cyclists but also at the watering points was truly an amazing experience and we will definitely be taking part again in the next challenge, with even more riders”, he added.

Congratulations to all, the riders who participated this year.  We look forward to next year’s event.

The Ride for a Purpose campaign has proven to provide an incomparable platform for cyclists to create awareness about personal causes that are close to their hearts, and this year was no different.

Over R12.5 million was raised for charity last year and this year the Momentum 947 Cycle Challenge encouraged riders and charities to get involved, so they can top last year’s massive success.

This year, Joburg’s favourite race reserved 8000 spots for charities to register their teams and for individuals who want to ride for their favourite charity.
