- The “Centomiglia” is the longest Sailing Race in Europe, carried out in inland waters, taking place every year on Garda Lake, on its the 64th edition this year is the longest sailing race in Italy.
The first edition, created by Circolo Vela Gargnano, was held on 8th and 9th September 1951 with 17 boats, and won by the” Airone “ boat belonging to the “Compagnia della Vela” in Venice.
- The competition is open to mono and multihulls sailboats of different classes, and it represents a very important appointment for all this sport followers; the paths are different depending on the boats characteristics and length which are often specifically prepared for this type of race. The race traditionally takes place from the Bogliaco harbour in Gargnano to Torbole, travelling southwards to Desenzano and finally going back to Gargnano.
- The “Gorla trophy” race is held the Sunday before the Centomiglia and it is open to different sailboats. It is held, however, in the mid-lake north of Bogliaco.
