High – standing real estate company Engel & Völkers has chosen Barcelona to be the starting point to introduce its new business model. It´s planned that this new business model will afterwards be rolled onto 170 cities all over the world.
The new business model will be focusing on the Consultants and the new structure that the German company is planning on introducing in big cities will consist of a big working space for Consultants (The Metropolitan Market Center – MMC) and presence in the streets (Property Lounges)
The German real estate company will invest 2 million euro in the capital of Cataluña to create the first Metropolitan Market Center. 700sq meters where a net of approximately 150 Consultants will be working. This American business model will be combined with the European model that places shops in the streets, called Property Lounges, where the consultants will interact with clients. In order to drive this project ahead in Barcelona, Engel & Völkers will be supported by the Sant Gervasi and Pedralbes franchises as partners.
This new dynamic will give the consultants (working as freelance) a 40% commission generated by their good offices, reaching the 50% at some points. Each MMC team will be in charge of the general managing of business in their area, the selection of consultants and production of marketing.
The expansion Director for Engel & Völkers in Spain, David Scheffler, while presenting this new business model, has affirmed that the investment made in Barcelona will be recovered over a period of two years.
