Engel&Völkers aims to be the market leader in Bilbao

Engel & Völkers AG, high standing real estate world leader, has set shop in Bilbao planning on taking over the most exclusive properties in the local market. The German real estate business aims to lead the high standing market for both Residential and Commercial properties (commercial units, offices, industrial properties and hotels)

Pablo Gulías, Managing Director of the shop placed in Henao 10, is responsible for implementing the Engel & Völkers Residential division in Bilbao and Getxo (a new shop is planned for this location later in the year). The Residential team will cover Abando (with special attention paid to Gran Vía), Ensanche and Indautxu as well as nearby locations such as Las Arenas, Neguri and Algorta and others along the coast. Gulías expects to have a portfolio of 250 properties between 500.000€ and 3 million euro by the end of the year and that “most of our clients buying to live are locals and the ones planning on investing will be foreign”. Regarding the current market, Gulías adds “no doubt Bilbao offers very interesting opportunities right now. Any attractive operations should be dealt with when it is still possible since we have become the focus of heightened attention for investors in Northern Europe and the Mediterranean countries.”

On the other hand, Blanca Alvarez is the Managing Director of the Commercial Division placed in Mazarredo 6. The plan for her shop is to have a team of 15 people and a portfolio of 150 properties all over Biscay by the end of the year. This portfolio is made of commercial units, offices, inversion products and hotels, unique buildings and industrial properties, amongst others. Blanca highlights “the wide knowledge of the market and the quality of the team in the Commercial Division allows us to offer our clients the best and most interesting options available.” She adds “Bilbao is a great city with an industrial and business tradition that enjoys the benefits of great infrastructures and communications. The number of foreign investors is currently on the rise and this fact is generating interesting business for the city.”

Ignacio Fiter, Managing Director of Engel & Völkers Expansion in Spain, highlights the relevance of an important location such as Bilbao, not just because of its current activity but also its possibilities. He adds “Engel & Vólkers was waiting for the perfect colleagues to come along at the right time in order to open such a demanding market as Bilbao. We are now ready to offer the best service in the market here too.”
