“The Flight of the Angel” announces the beginning of the Carnival of Venice

The Flight of the Angel, or “Flight of the dove“, has its roots due to an event that happened in the mid 16th century, when an acrobat dressed with angel wings tied to a rope was let down the tower, at the end of the descent the Doge himself gave the angel a special gift. This event is today broadcasted in worldwide television channels and the “angel” is represented by a beautiful venetian young lady.

Enjoying the Colombina while flying from the top of the Tower to the center of the square, is definitely a wonderful experience that you can live from the exclusive reservable boxes or directly from the square, from where you’ll see the girl flying above your heads.

The sensational Flight will take place on Sunday, February the 23th at 12:00 o’clock, before the Grand Theatre will host mask parade and historical re-enactments, and according to the tradition officially announces the beginning of the Carnival of Venice.
