On 28 January a special issue of the current affairs magazine Focus was published with the theme “Germany’s Best Employers”. The magazine, with a circulation of over 100,000 copies, reports on the top companies in Germany and lists the best employers in 22 industries. Engel & Völkers take second place in the “Services” category. At a gala event held on 27 January in Berlin’s Museum of Communication, Member of the Board Thilo von Trotha and Maria-Paz Millán, Head of Human Resources of Engel & Völkers AG, accepted on behalf of E&V a certificate from Focus with the quality mark “TOP National Employer”. “The Focus ranking denotes those companies in Germany that achieve particularly high levels of satisfaction among employees. That is why we are very proud of our standing and of the positive evaluation of the E&V employees”, explained Thilo von Trotha.
To create the comprehensive ranking, Focus examined 2000 companies and evaluated four different data sources:
- The data collection company Statista used an internet survey of 12,000 employees to determine how they viewed their employers.
- 250,000 members of the social network Xing, who worked for the companies in question, were given an extensive questionnaire. In total 7,700 Xing members responded to the questions covering issues of corporate image, management behaviour, prospects within the company and salary.
- 23,200 evaluations from the Kununu platform also formed part of the ranking. Employees are able to express their opinion of their employers on Kununu. The evaluations of applicants were not taken into consideration.
- Focus also questioned employees of other companies in the same industry. People who had worked at different companies or had gained insights into other industries in the course of their work were able to express an opinion.
“We are convinced that the satisfaction of our employees makes a major contribution to the long term commercial success of our company. We are therefore delighted that they rate the company as such a positive working environment. The ranking also highlights the appeal of Engel & Völkers as an employer “, said Maria-Paz Millán, Head of Human Resources.
