Top models Eugenia Silva, Laura Ponte and Nieves Álvarez, Spanish designer Agatha Ruiz de la Prada with her daugher Cósima, international choreographer Nacho Duato, Venezuelan writer Boris Izaguirre and Italian Model Antonia Dell´Atte shared a unique evening with Christian Völkers and 600 of his guests while raising money for Engel & Völkers Charity.
The new edition of the Engel & Völkers Polo cup that took place on August 1st in Majorca was, once again, a milestone in the international summer social agenda. The event managed to create a unique atmosphere in an unbeatable and magic setting such as Son Coll, the property owned by the President of Engel & Völkers, Christian Völkers.
Guided by his love for horses and polo, six years ago he decided to share his passion with his friends and acquaintances by creating a Polo Tournament in his property in Majorca. Nowadays it is the most important sports event of the Majorcan summer. “The first edition was a family event with 200 guests and I am very proud to be witness of the international reputation and the prestige that it is acquiring amongst the increasing numbers of followers of this beautiful sport” Christian Völkers says.
Its last edition gathered over 600 guests from all over the world, aristocrats and influencing people from the business, cultural and sports world, all gathered with one aim: to raise money for the Engel & Völkers Charity.
Top models Eugenia Silva, Laura Ponte and Nieves Álvarez, Spanish designer Agatha Ruiz de la Prada with her daughter Cósima Ramírez, Simoneta Gómez Acebo, international choreographer Nacho Duato, Italian model Antonia Dell´Atte, Olivia de Borbón supported this initiative together with the Venezuelan writer Boris Izaguirre and other local personalities such as Cristina Macaba, Mr. and Mrs. Ybarra and a number of European aristocrats.
International teams for a first class tournament
During the three days that the tournament lasted, six first class international teams competed for the cup with more than 60 horses coming from all over the world. This year the winner was the Engel & Völkers team, host of the tournament. Sponsored by Engel & Völkers, Cartier, Vertu, Bentley, La Martina and Forest Lake / Eagles Paradise all the teams were led by players of international fame. After two days of qualifying sessions, the grand final took place in a unique and exceptional atmosphere in Son Coll.
Polo Cup to raise money for the Engel & Völkers Charity
The tournament, under the motto “It´s time to share!” raised money to continue the work that the Engel & Völkers Charity develops in Africa. The main aim of the charity is to provide 200 kids in Togo with an education. The event was chaired by international top model Eugenia Silva and Venezuelan writer Boris Izaguirre who masterfully rose awareness on the matter amongst the attendees and while managing to raise 45.000€ with a charity raffle. The charity chairwoman, Ninon Völkers, who was granted the Solidary Travel across the world award, has been working for the charity since 2008, raising money and working hard so the kids of Agbetiko (Togo) can have a better opportunity in their own country.
Exclusive silk carré inspired by the Son Coll Polo Tournament
Engel & Völkers Charity has created a delicate silk carré, an ode to the elegance and energy of Polo, sold exclusively at this year´s tournament. All benefits from its sale will be destined to the Engel & Völkers Charity. Conceived by the creative Javier Escobar and painted in watercolor by the Majorcan artist Jaume Vilardell, this wonderful silk carré will be available as a limited edition of 350 units, numbered by the artists. Each of the watercolors is inspired by a Polo move in Son Coll, recreating each of the details that are part of this beautiful sport.
Solidary wristband created by Relojería Alemana
The prestigious Relojería Alemana has designed a limited edition of wristbands exclusively sold at the Polo Tournament. All profits are destined for the Engel & Völkers Charity. An elegant, stylish and unique piece, inspired by the horse´s mouthpiece. 400 unique pieces that are a work of art that emanate elegance and the values of Polo.
Dinner under the stars by Maca de Castro
The local Michellin star Maca de Castro was in charge of creating a unique gastronomic experience combining gazpacho (cold vegetable soup), trademark snacks, Mediterranean salads and an exquisite Argentinian roast. All dishes accompanied by wines from the Bibiagual vinyards. Guests later enjoyed a light snack consisting of Gourmet products by David de Castro.
Sally Hamilton, floral artist, was in charge of decorating the food displays and each of the details of the Polo tournament to create a fresh, lively and unique experience making use of the local vegetation in Son Coll.
Capricho cocktail bar from Puerto Portals got the party started after dinner together with Orchestra XX. The creative cocktails, fresh and funny created with Gin Mare, and Bravante beer were principal to the end of the party.
