The Medici villas are architectural complexes built as places of leisure and pleasure, but they also controlled the territory administered by the Medici. In a period booming in cultural and humanistic ideas, these constructions were built from the year ’400 onwards, initially in the hills around the city of Florence and later also in Versilia.
Their architecture was unique for the relationship between indoor and outdoor spaces such as the gardens which were strictly geometric and forming an integral part of the building. With the Medici villas comes a magnificent building and representation, which is at the same time very comfortable and pleasant as living space.
From 2013 most of the villas in Florence have been incorporated into the UNESCO but we still find some of these villas in excellent condition and in the hands of private owners who care for them and appreciate them.
