Last year was a very successful year for Engel & Völkers Ibiza & Santa Eulalia Shops, where sales increased by 20%, confirming the upward trend which started in late 2012. In 2013, Ibiza continued to attract a very international clientele dominated by German speaking buyers (see chart).
Prices are on the rise for top quality properties in the most sought-after areas. Reasonably priced properties in top locations have a marketing period of approximately 3 to 9 months, while marketing periods in general remained at an average of 6 to 18 months. Properties, particularly apartments and townhouses in less sought-after locations are subject to continued price pressure. However, the number of transactions in this sector has increased and correctly priced properties are selling faster
The search criteria are as diverse as the nationalities of the buyers, with no clear trend linking nationalities to specific areas of the island. The diverse profile of buyers ranges from business professionals looking for a holiday home to families looking for a more relaxed lifestyle to those looking for a long term investment that can generate rental income during the season.
The average age of our buyers in 2013 was 47 making Ibiza a comparatively young destination.
