Stresa, “The Queen of Lake Maggiore”, is located in the best position,  at the foot of the Mottarone Mountain. Many villas, parks, gardens, the flowered lakeside and the panorama of the Borromean Islands make Stresa one of the most important and international holiday cities of Italy. Thanks to its privileged location, mild summer climate, beauty of the landscape, hotels,  various cultural, sporting and social events, conferences and congresses, attract people at an International level. Stresa offers a unique variety of excursions and possibilities to visit the cities of art in the neighbourhood.

Stresa is also close to the International Airport of Milan – Malpensa, A26 and the international railway of Simplon.

The Borromean islands comprise three  islands: Isola Bella, dedicated by Carl III Borromeo to his wife Isabella;  Isola Pescatori, named “Fishermans island”; Isola Madre, the  “mother” of the islands.

 

Isola Bella

The home of the Borromeo family, contains works of art, furniture and paintings. The gardens, offer every variety of rare plants and flowers, which grow in ornate terraces  and  are a classic example of  Italian gardens of that era.

 

Isola Pescatori

Just 300 metres long and 100 metres wide, Isola Pescatori boasts not only the charm of a typical fishing village, but also an exceptional location on an island at the centre of the Borromean Gulf. Isola Pescatori is named after the fishing activity of its inhabitants. The narrow streets that overlook the lake and the characteristic church of S. Vittore create the unique charm of this enchanting place.
There are excellent restaurants that offer the opportunity to taste fish of the lake and  many shops.

 

Isola Madre

The English style Gardens on Isola Madre which were created to reproduce the natural landscape with an elegant perspective and enchanted feel: exotic birds and colourful peacocks wander freely in the park, which is home to numerous exotic varieties of plants.
