Almost 20% of real estate transactions in 2014 were foreigners, according to the Spanish newspaper Expansion. Obviously the housing market is in the throes of recovery, real estate is very attractive, causing the interest of investors from other countries. Transactions by foreign residents in Spain have been growing in recent months. The incentives like residence granted visa – one of the main reasons for the increased operations.
If we could see an average profile of the foreign buyer would be a man of 53 years, with annual revenues of 66,000 euros, married with children, with a higher level of studies with a reason to buy such as climate, sun and good air connections. Almost 20% of transactions have been carried out by the British, followed by French, Germans and Belgians. Italian, Russian, Swedish and Chinese respectively comprise approx. 5% of all foreign buyers. While the Russians show a drop in transactions for political and economic reasons, Colombians and Mexicans have become few active buyers and their interest in having a second house in Spain is growing.
