EV Potchefstoom Community Project: Repair and Repaint a Local Park

Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood. -Fred Rogers-

On Friday 16 October 2015 several businesses in Potchefstroom came together to rebuild and repaint the Elizabeth Bate Park and Playground in Potchefstroom.

Before: broken swings. EV Potchefstroom proved that they do not just assist with property for sale in Potchefstroom, but also with renovating parks!

The playground is located in the beautiful Beyers Naudé Avenue next to the Tennis Club and Potchefstroom Swimming Pool, across from the brand new townhouse complex - Central Park.

Central Park complex was developed by Pro Plan Technologies and marketed exclusively by Engel & Völkers Potchefstroom.

The Elizabeth Bate Park’s condition had deteriorated and was not fit for children to play in anymore: the park was strewn with trash and most of the play apparatus was broken, rusted and dangerous.

This spurred the idea of a community project to renovate this once beautiful area and Pro Plan TechnologiesEngel & Völkers PotchefstroomMeyer van der Walt Attorneys, EV Finance and Superior Shades did exactly that.

Their goal was to make the playground an area where children can play and a park that would make the residents of Potchefstroom proud once again.

The staff members of these businesses all pitched in: grass was cut, trash picked up, the bore hole fixed, irrigation system dug out and repaired, play apparatus and swings were sanded and repaired and lastly everything was painted in a new coat of bright paint.

After: looks like new!

After a few tubes of sun block, liters of water and cold drinks and a long day of hard physical labour the reward was big.

Each participant agreed that the hard work was worth the beautiful end result. The Elizabeth Bate Park is once again a place where children can play, exercise their imaginations and develop the necessary motor skills.

Together the citizens of Potchefstroom can and did make a difference. Thank you to all the parties involved.
