The Berlin International Film Festival is one of the most prominent film festivals in the world and is, once again, luring countless visitors and numerous stars and starlets to the capital city. Red carpet, Golden Bear – Berlin has it all!
A one-off visit to Berlin while Berlinale is going on is not enough for some Hollywood stars who would instead prefer to purchase of a property of their dreams on a permanent basis. This is allegedly what Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt did a few years ago by buying a large 600 square metre loft apartment on Torstrasse. Christian Bale, Natalie Portman and Cate Blanchett, among others, are all expected at this year’s Berlinale. A short while ago, Cate Blanchett purchased an estate in Australia – perhaps she would also feel at home in this luxury penthouse in Wilmdersdorf? The district borders the fashionable Charlottenburg which gleams with its picturesque Savignyplatz area. The German actresses Alexandra Maria Lara and Katja Riemann as well as the Austrian two time Oscar winner Christoph Waltz have already purchased properties here.
The Mitte district is also always in the centre of attention with its countless shops, bars and restaurants. German actress Heike Makatsch proves that the Mitte district is family friendly by living here together with her husband and two daughters. In an interview with the Berliner Tagesspiegel she emphasises how safe and happy she feels with her family being close to the Weinberg[s]park. Also in Mitte, not far from Schwartzkopfstrasse, is this architecturally unique penthouse with 360 m² living space with an open kitchen and its own sauna. Fans of Philipp Starck design may like the maisonette penthouse right next to Friedrichstrasse. From here, you can quickly get to Kreuzberg where, among others, Til Schweiger, Thomas Kretschmann and the model, Eva Padberg all live.
