The island of Rhodes is the fourth largest island in Greece and has 300 days of sunshine a year. It is an ideal tourist destination and one of the most attractive holiday regions in Greece. For Greek culture enthusiasts, Rhodes is an important market for second homes. Many people dream of moving here permanently and enjoying the Mediterranean way of life.
The Italian artist Piero Dorazio (1927-2005), whose villa is currently on sale, was one of the best known residents of Rhodes. Dorazio worked primarily in Rome, Paris and the United States, his art works were exhibited twice at the documenta in Kassel. Since 1974, he worked and lived alternately in Umbria and on Rhodes. Dorazio is regarded as the pioneer of abstract art in Italy and considered to be one of the most important Italian artists of the second half of the 20th century. The fascinating play of light on the island of Rhodes inspired him in his work. He focused mainly on the primary colours, which he combined using various geometric forms.
The beautiful double storey villa has a living area of 612 m², with the property measuring some 12,000 m². It has ten rooms and five bathrooms, and thus plenty of space for welcoming guests. The villa offers stunning views of St. Nicolas Bay and is located close to the picturesque village of Lindos, a town with a population of almost 4,000 and a popular tourist attraction. Travellers are attracted in particular to the Acropolis of Lindos and the many restaurants, bars and clubs.
The demand for high-quality real estate on Rhodes is currently on the rise. “Although the prices for luxury holiday real estate had decreased slightly because of the crisis, they are now rising again due to the large demand. That is why now is the perfect time to invest in Greek Real Estate”, says Georg Petras, license partner of Engel & Völkers on Rhodes. This is confirmed by the Engel & Völkers market report for Rhodes. Demand is focusing on first-class villas and houses, especially those near the coast with direct access to the sea or unique views. Properties with three or more bedrooms, high quality furnishings and large land plots are especially popular. “Buying a first-class property in a prime location on Rhodes is not only a stable financial investment with growth potential, but also an investment in quality of life, security and retirement planning”, says Petras.
