The British newspaper “The Sunday Times” has declared Palma de Mallorca the best place to live in the world. This puts the island capital ahead of major cities such as Toronto and Berlin. With around 426,000 inhabitants, the city secured top place thanks to its many different sources of appeal: Palma de Mallorca plays host to a picturesque historic old town and beaches within walking distance, with a great climate and a unique way of life. It also benefits from the nearby international airport and the island’s beautiful surrounding countryside.
The ranking list entitled “Best places to live in the world” is published annually by the renowned British newspaper “The Sunday Times”. The 2015 list includes a total of 50 cities, towns and places that are particularly impressive for their location next to magnificent beaches, their impressive natural wonders, or the career opportunities they offer. Palma de Mallorca brings all these impressive features together, achieving best place as a result. The terms for foreign buyers acquiring a property also played an important role.
Engel & Völkers has had close ties to Majorca for many years. In 1990, the Hamburg-based company opened its very first foreign office in Palma de Mallorca. The property service provider is now represented with 16 residential property shops on the Balearic island. In 2014, Engel & Völkers on Majorca managed to increase the transaction volume over the previous year by 28.2 percent.
