Trinxat Party, celebration of Catalan cuisine
Each year, in late February, hundreds of citizens of the Catalan community of Cerdanya gather at Puigcerdà’s Sports Center, capital of the region, to start the traditional Winter Trinxat Party. Guests from different cities and multi-cultural entities come to celebrate the culinary and social identity of the region, in an already historic event held for over two decades.
The star of the evening is the traditional ‘Trinxat’, a typical dish of Cerdanya, made with specific local ingredients: potatoes, winter cabbage and a final touch of bacon. The menu is an important element in the identity of the region, dating from the fifteenth century and is prepared with winter cabbage touched by cold and local meat. A unique preparation that every February becomes the protagonist event of Cerdanya’s culture.
The event also offers tastings of popular and representative dishes like sausages and local pastries. In addition to the culinary presentations and to exalt the festive atmosphere of the night also magic shows and orchestras are presented.
