10 year retirement visa for Thailand
The Thai government has announced a new 10 year retirement visa for foreign residents in Thailand.
Applicants for this 10 year visa must have a monthly salary of THB 100,000 or more than THB 3,000,000 in a Thai bank account which cannot be withdrawn within the 1st year after receiving the visa. In addition to that the applicant must have health insurance that provides a minimum of USD $ 10,000 in annual coverage that includes in-patient hospital stays. The 10 year visa will eventually replace the current 1 year renewable visa where the applicant must place THB 800,000 in a Thai bank account for a minimum of 6 months prior to the application of the visa.
The exact details have yet to be announce and the Immigration offices have yet to receive any guidelines. The new visa is expected to be effective next year.
