The Fireworks of San Giovanni

The month of June is highly anticipated by the Florentines to celebrate the day 24, the patron saint of San Giovanni. Florence becomes a joy casing with its citizens and tourists who celebrate. The festival starts in the morning with a national parade following the Banner of Palazzo Vecchio and symbolically brings a gift to the patron of the candles in the Baptistery. Here the Archbishop of Florence received the offer and all then go into the Cathedral for the celebration of a solemn mass. Throughout the day they are held cultural and folklore events. The most beautiful sight that attracts a crowd mainly concentrated along the Arno and Ponte Vecchio are the fireworks fired from the Piazzale Michelangelo; a show that lasts about an hour.
