It’s the 1976 and on the scene, the cinema icon Roger Moore and the beautiful Bond Girl Barbara Bach for the “The spy who loved me” – the 10th episode of the most famous 007 saga.
But the real and undisputed protagonist is Costa Smeralda.
Forty years ago travelling abroad was a privilege that only “happy few” people could afford: since the 70s Costa Smeralda – with its crystal clear waters and the amazing natural architectures – became an exclusive and irresistible holiday dream.
Easy to recognize our most enchanting landscape in the film’s shooting; the uniqueness of San Pantaleo, the refined glamour of Hotel Pitrizza and the caribbean beach of Capriccioli allowed to built what turned out to be myth of Costa Smeralda: a mix of glamour and adventure, international luxury and heavenly nature.
The most iconic and luxurious location is certainly the Hotel Cala di Volpe which remained unchanged and preserved the same charm of the film’s scenes.
Hotel Cala di volpe represents a authentic institution within the international luxury world: arch.Jacques Couelle, who designed it, is still considered a style and design genius: upon request of His Highness Aga Khan, whose desire was to create an atmosphere respecting the Sardinian wild nature with its picturesque rocky landscape, the verdant Mediterranean maquis scenting of myrtle and junipers, arch. Couelle created his Mediterranean architectural masterpiece.
All the ambiences of the Hotel’s interiors are enriched by arched ceilings of wooden beams and whitewashed sinuous walls : a style inspired by the antique fishing village with a surrealist-like atmosphere.
Since the 1963, year of its completion, the Hotel Cala di Volpe has been chosen by the international jet set and today is the preferred location for the most private and exclusive event: only last year the founder and creative director of the swiss luxury jeweller De Grisogono, Fawaz Gruosi, celebrated his 63th birthday party at the Cala Di Volpe hotel having as his guests international names such as Adrien Brody and Leonardo Di Caprio, completing the stunning party with a private concert of Mika.
Hotel Cala di Volpe hosts every summer the most special and exclusive concert: Aretha Franklin, Elton John, John Legend and Robbie Williams just to name the last editions. Could you resist to the Hollywood dream of the timeless glamour of Costa Smeralda: sipping a Vesper Martini – James Bond favourite cocktail – while admiring the amazing beauty of Costa Smeralda’s landscape?
