Puerto Alcudia in the north of Mallorca has an absolutely stunning, natural horseshoe bay, with a white sandy beach stretching some 8,5km. Heading inland away from the beach, the resort is built up around a series of lakes and canals and is just a stones throw from the beautiful old Roman town of Alcudia. Further along the bay lies the S’Albufera Nature Reserve, a specially protected area for birds and the largest wetland area on the island.

The town offers great shopping, has a selection of excellent restaurants, a water park, and plenty of bars and entertainment. The numerous sporting activities available include tennis, horse riding, scuba diving, windsurfing, kite surfing, water-skiing, sailing and golf, and the town is also host to the Ironman triathlon (for the more serious sportsmen). It is the perfect place to be for people of all ages both during the hottest months and also out of season when the mild climate is ideal for sports lovers and also for those who just want to enjoy the fine weather in a beautiful Mediterranean setting at a slower pace.

The Port of Alcudia is home to the second busiest harbour on the island and is also an important trade port. From here, you can take a boat trip around the islands spectacular coast, or even a ferry to Barcelona or Menorca. The chic, vibrant marina has more than a thousand moorings for boats and yachts of all sizes and an extensive seafront promenade with a multitude of bars, cafes and restaurants. Those who wish to uncover the secrets, customs and culture of the area, will enjoy doing so during the cooler months, when the weekly markets still run, flights are cheaper, when hiking is a pleasure and the almond trees are in full bloom.
