We are glad to present to you our latest brochure named „Foreigners purchasing real estate and residential property in Switzerland“. This brochure summarizes the legal situation of Lex Koller and can be downloaded for free by following the link at the end of the page. Since 1961, statutory provisions for purchases of real estate by foreigners have been in place in Switzerland. The provisions are well known as „Lex Koller“ since 1997. Due to the fact that this law has been established at federal level, the law is applicable in all parts of Switzerland. In some Cantons, there are yearly quotas for selling vacation apartments to foreigners, whereby the number of apartments varies between different cantons. European citizens are generally allowed to purchase properties in Switzerland without having a spezial permission, provided that they have a long-term residence permit in addition to a proven domicile in Switzerland.
