The first quarter of 2017 saw Engel & Völkers open the Market Center (MC) Elbe in Hamburg. This marks the very first MC in Germany for Engel & Völkers. The MC Elbe is managed from the company’s headquarters and encompasses offices in the districts of Blankenese, Othmarschen and HafenCity. Up until now, the Group was represented with residential property shops in these locations, managed by independent licence partners. “The success story of Engel & Völkers began here in the so-called Elbe suburbs of the city. So it is a special undertaking for us to now be taking over management of these locations once again,” said Christian Völkers, CEO of Engel & Völkers AG.
The MC Elbe brokers prestigious residential property in the Elbe suburbs, in Ottensen and throughout the whole of Hamburg’s inner city. This also includes the central districts known as the Altstadt (Old Town) and Neustadt (New Town). The offices in Blankenese and Othmarschen are located in the same premises as the former residential property shops. The HafenCity office is temporary located in the Engel & Völkers headquarters building on Stadthausbrücke, and will be relocating in 2018 to the new company headquarters, currently taking shape very close to the Unilever-Haus and the Hafencity cruise ship terminal. All other Engel & Völkers residential property shops in Hamburg will remain under the management of licence partners.
Wanted: new real estate agents
The Managing Directors of the MC Elbe are Kai Enders, Member of the Board of Engel & Völkers AG, and Philipp Niemann, Managing Director of Engel & Völkers Residential GmbH. There are currently around 15 real estate agents working in the Market Center. “By the end of the year we want to raise that number to around 30 agents. We are looking for sales talents who know the Elbe suburbs, Ottensen and Hamburg’s city centre very well, and also have an excellent network at their disposal,” said Christian Völkers.
Engel & Völkers introduced its MC concept in 2013, in addition to its successfully established licence partner system. The company is pursuing the strategy with this concept of growing faster in the world’s key real estate markets and gaining a greater market share. This is also the objective that Engel & Völkers has for the MC Elbe in Hamburg. Other Market Centers can be found in Rome, Barcelona, Paris, New York City, and many other locations.
