Close to Santanyí, in the southeast of Majorca, Engel & Völkers is now brokering the architecturally significant villa owned by the world-renowned Italian artist Fabrizio Plessi. The property is on the market with a price tag in the single-figure millions. “This really is an exceptional residence, with a completely original design and the very latest technical fittings,” said Nils Haase, Managing Partner of Engel & Völkers Majorca Southeast.
Architectural jewel in an idyllic setting
The estate dates back to 1814 and lies in an idyllic setting near Santanyí. The grounds span a total of 31,000 square metres, while the main house boasts interiors of some 600 square metres. In the entrance hall, designed in the shape of a boat, visitors are received with a video installation by the artist. The villa includes six bedrooms, seven bathrooms and a large kitchen fitted with an eight-metre cooking island. Natural stone has been decoratively incorporated into the floors and walls. Two guesthouses, a barbecue house and a 200 square metre studio offer abundant space for hosting guests. A sprawling terrace and a 17-metre pool lined with palm trees are also impressive outdoor highlights.
Successful installation artist
Born in Italy in 1940, Fabrizio Plessi is famous the world over for his art installations. After studying Painting at the Venice Academy of Art, he went on to focus his artistic output on performance and installation art. He is regarded as the founder of a new art form, the video sculpture, which propelled him to international renown. His works have been exhibited many times at the documenta in Kassel, at the Biennale in Venice, the Biennale in São Paolo, and elsewhere.
