The internationally unique building designed by the architectural collective around Hanns Hopp from 1951-1952 on Karl-Marx-Allee, as Germany's longest continuous architectural monument, connects the vibrant Mitte district with the dynamic Friedrichshain district. The boulevard was partially redeveloped from 2018 to 2020 with the goal of enhancing the quality of life. Among other things, a wide bike path was created and a green median strip was laid out between the lanes. The Friedrichshain section of the avenue is characterized by residential blocks and towers in a combined style of Socialist Classicism, also known as "Sugar Baker Style," and the classical Prussian Schinkel School. The imposing tower buildings at Frankfurter Tor and Strausberger Platz are the urban highlights of the complex. Due to the very good connection of the Frankfurter Tor subway station, you can easily reach all other districts of Berlin in just a few minutes. Life in the heart of the Friedrichshain district is predominantly shaped by young, creative people, but also families. In the immediate vicinity, the streets are lined with diverse restaurants and trendy cafés. Especially in the nearby Simon-Dach-Kiez, an independent restaurant and bar culture has established itself. From fast food to fine dining, there is something for every taste.
