The Formentor peninsula is about 10 kilometres from the Port of Pollensa at the extreme northeastern end of Mallorca and belongs to the municipality of Pollensa. It is without doubt one of the most exclusive enclaves on the island, highly secure and home to spectacular scenery of mountains (Tramuntana), pine forests and the sea. The easiest route to Formentor is by sea and from the ports of Alcudia and Pollensa regular boats cross over to Formentor throughout the day in the summer. If you have a private boat then Formentor beach and a world of coves nearby are there to be enjoyed. Cala Murta, Cala Figuera and Cala Engosauba provide excellent snorkelling territory and crystalline waters. On your way to Formentor by sea you will pass the peninsula of Punta Avanzada, home to the "Fortaleza" considered the most expensive property in Spain and film set for "Night Manager". Formentor is also accessible by car. About halfway along is the Mirador de Colomer, a lookout or viewpoint, where a stop is mandatory. The famous beach in Formentor is a dream of soft, white sand and turquoise waters stretching for almost a kilometre, perfect for snorkelling and for just relishing the moment. The emblematic Hotel Formentor sits in front of the beach and boasts a guest list of the rich and famous, kings, artists and politicians. It is a classical venue in stunning circumstances and it is well worth stopping for an expensive sundowner! Or trying to get to one of the Sunset Classical Concerts held outdoors in the summer. Formentor is home to spectacular villas in a privileged location and there are only very few of those on the real estate market.
