With a population of more than 16,000 residents, Pollença is located in the north of the island. The town is 7 kilometers from the coast and 58 kilometers from the capital city and airport in Palma. The municipality of Pollença also includes the coastal towns of Port de Pollença and Cala Sant Vicenç. Pollença’s old town is shaped by history and tradition. In the narrow streets and on the church square there is a wide selection of charming street cafés, restaurants and boutique hotels. Every Sunday the well-known weekly market takes place. In the early 1920s, Pollença became a popular destination for famous painters, writers and musicians. Today, thanks to its many art galleries and cultural events, such as the International Music Festival, Pollença enjoys a strong reputation in the cultural and arts world. Other annual events include the “Sant Antoni” festival in January and “La Patrona Mare de Déu dels Àngels” in August in honor of the patron saint. The wine fair in April is also very popular. On Mount Puig de Maria there is a small monastery complex. From here, the view stretches over the rooftops of Pollença to the sea and the Tramuntana mountains. Other sights include the Roman bridge and the Calvary staircase with 365 steps. The surroundings of Pollença offer many opportunities for nature lovers, hikers and cyclists. The range of properties extends from typical Mallorcan townhouses and apartments to magnificent country houses and fincas, some of which have the rental license required for holiday letting. The area around Pollença has always been particularly sought-after.
