With its unique natural scenery and cultural wealth, Sicily attracts both tourists and celebrities looking for a permanent residence on the island. In 2000, Mick Hucknall, the front singer in the British pop band Simply Red, bought an elegant country house at the foot of Mount Etna looking out over the volcano and the sea. He is now putting the former mill and the “Il Cantante” vineyard on the market. The property is for sale for 650,000 euros and is being brokered by Engel & Völkers.
The two-storey rural property also features the historic millstone dating from 1760 in a private museum. Other exhibits include an old press and old winemaking equipment dating back to the 19th century.
Eleven rooms and five bathrooms can be found within this home, which spans some 400 square metres in size. The property also has two separate entrances. The rear entrance leads through a separate space of some 60 square metres, which could be used for accommodating guests. From the garden, beautiful views can be enjoyed overlooking the Ionian Sea.
Mick Hucknall first spent a holiday on Sicily and fell in love with the country house. He bought the property and cultivated the “Il Cantante” vineyard on several hillsides around Mount Etna together with the wine grower Salvo Foti. He would travel here to the largest island in the Mediterranean around three times a year.
