Zell am See: Location and surroundings of this property

The small mountain town of Zell am See has around 10.000 inhabitants. Zell's local mountain - the Schmittenhöhe with a height of approx. 2000 meters - offers skiing and hiking fun for everyone. A large number of restaurants invites to culinary delights. Numerous shops from the world of fashion and the weekly market with a wide range of regional traditional products call you for a shopping tour. The Tauern Spa Center in Kaprun, the 36-hole golf course and the ice rink offer further sporty opportunities away from the ski slopes. Various bars, discos and of course the casino right on the edge of the lake are available for evening entertainment.

Lake Zell was formed at the end of the last ice age around 10,000 to 16,000 years ago and today only covers a fraction of its original area. The lake reached almost as far as Saalfelden in the north and filled part of the Salzach valley in the south. Today the lake offers surfers as well as kite surfers and sailors ideal conditions for their sport. The best-known water sports enthusiasts from Zell am See are the tornado sailors Hans-Peter Steinacher and Roman Hagara, who were the only team to win the Olympics twice in a row in 2000 and 2004.

Zell am See can be reached from Salzburg Airport in about 90 minutes by car and from Munich Airport in approx. 2,5 hours. You can also reach Zell am See by sport aircraft through the local airport in Schüttdorf.
