Zugspitzregion - Ehrwald
Ehrwald is a municipality in the district of Reutte, Tyrol. Ehrwald is located at the foot of the Wetterstein mountains with the 2962 m high Zugspitze, in the Lermooser Moos basin, a former marsh landscape. The town is close to the Ehrwalder Becken nature reserve.
Ehrwald is a typical Tyrolean mountain village, built on tradition and its magnificent natural surroundings. Ehrwald was discovered by tourists at the start of the 20th century and evolved alongside Lermoos into one of the most important two-season tourist resorts in the Zugspitze region.
The newly built Tyrolean Zugspitz Cable Car goes directly to the summit, in both summer and winter. Ehrwald has two further skiing and hiking areas, Wettersteinbahnen, which starts directly from the town centre, and the Erhwalder Alm ski resort.
