Waterloo - in between town and countryside

Surrounded by the floodlights burning bright to celebrate the bicentenary of its famous battle, Waterloo is a perfect town for a quiet family life not far from the Belgian capital.

This peaceful town is situated approximately twenty kilometres to the South of Brussels and has both a residential and commercial nature. Even though the centre has been densely populated since the late 1980s, nature is never far away, thanks to its various green areas, including a few dozen hectares of the Sonian Forest, the ‘green lung’ of the Brussels region.

Hidden behind the town centre, packed with fancy boutiques, restaurants and famous brands, are a large number of villas and houses with luxurious gardens, providing the inhabitants with the best of both worlds - “city life” and a trouble-free existence. It is said, however, that above all else the Walloon town of Waterloo boasts an aura of pride.
