In Belgium, notaries have just launched an innovative tool aimed at the general public: a digital document safe that can be used free of charge. Called Izimi, this allows the storage of important personal documents, such as notarial deeds.
Izimi is a digital document safe for personal use that means people can store their important documents in one place. In particular, individuals can use it to save their passports, various certificates, documents relating to real estate purchases, loan agreements or insurance policies.
Izimi's online platform and mobile application have been available since January 2021. Belgians can open and use their safe at www.izimi.be.
A real innovation in the digitization of the legal professions, this platform has been developed to be intuitive and user-friendly. It also respects the confidentiality and security of its users' data. Documents stored on Izimi cannot therefore be transferred to a company or even to the authorities. Confidential user data cannot therefore be used for unwanted advertising targeting.
Izimi will soon have a new function. This new function will allow it to notify individuals of any change to legislation that might affect them.
nother advantage: when someone dies, their heirs will no longer need to go through the whole house to find their important paperwork. With Izimi, a notary can simply transfer documents from the deceased's safe to their heirs.
