Three heating options for your terrace

In winter, even those who rarely feel the cold find it very difficult to sit comfortably on the terrace and take full advantage of the pleasant relaxation this area can provide! So, whatever the Belgian weather, installing some kind of heating is essential to combat colder conditions. With that in mind, here are three solutions which will allow you to heat your terrace and open up this valuable living space in both summer and winter.

Gas heating

A gas heater is portable, which means you are free to position it exactly where you want without any constraints. And in addition, the diffusion of heat will begin almost immediately. These devices run on gas cylinders, and there are several models available:

The patio heater: Easy to move around, this model is very common in restaurants. The heat is released from above, and the gas cylinder is stored well out of sight.

The stove: This appliance can be fixed or portable and comes in a wide variety of possible styles.
The flame heater: Even though this form of heating can be quite expensive, it is nevertheless an extremely elegant solution. This is due in particular to the real flames which always create a warm, cosy atmosphere. However, it must also be said this device tends to project relatively little in the way of usable heat.

Electric heating

If electric heaters are becoming more popular, it’s probably because they diffuse a constant heat while being considerably safer than other devices. Very practical, easy to move around and quiet in operation, they offer excellent value for money. This kind of heating is available in two standard options. The first, which warms the room using infrared radiation, is renowned for its heat output and safety qualities. The second is a halogen heater which emits a constant, regular radiant heat and a characteristic steady glow. That’s why this form of heating is highly recommended for warming an outdoor space while adding a cosy, romantic dimension.

Wood heating

The appeal of this option lies in the authentic, warm and welcoming aspects of a wood fire. But if you are not particularly drawn to the idea of burning logs, the smoke and the ashes this method creates may be a drawback. However, if the smell of burning wood doesn’t bother you, there is nothing better to create a soothing atmosphere while also achieving significant energy savings.
