Locarno-Monti: Location and surroundings of this property

Locarno, with its 15,000 inhabitants, lies between Lake Maggiore and the southern foothills of the Alps. A few driving hours separate the traveller from a holiday paradise that is second to none. Even the journey through the incomparable scenery of the Alpine passes is an experience in itself. In addition, the 5.5 km long Mappo - Morettina car tunnel was opened in 1996, connecting Tenero directly with the centre of Locarno and reducing traffic considerably. The uniqueness of the region around Lake Maggiore is certainly due to the beauty of the landscape and the mild Mediterranean climate. Locarno is probably the city with the most favourable climate in Switzerland. Almost 2300 hours of sunshine per year at an average temperature of 15.5 °C allow the flora and fauna to develop at a favourable rate. The mild Mediterranean climate favours an early spring, a long and hot summer with little rainfall and an autumn that lasts until November. Cultural highlights are the annual film festivals in August and the music festivals in September and October.
