The Engel & Völkers Group has opened the doors to its first Metropolitan Market Center (MMC) in Barcelona. Located on the Avenida Diagonal, one of the most important thoroughfares in the Catalan capital, prestigious business premises in an office space spanning some 700 square metres are now dedicated to the brokerage of premium residential property and commercial real estate.
“This MMC marks the beginning of a similarly pioneering innovation to our shop concept launched in 1995,” said Christian Völkers, CEO of Engel & Völkers AG. By establishing the MMC concept, the company is pursuing a strategy aimed at faster growth in the world’s major cities and a greater gain of market share. The licence for an MMC covers the entire geographical region of a metropolis. This means that its transaction volume is equivalent to that of between ten and 20 traditional Engel & Völkers shops and offices. In addition to a central office space for up to 200 sales advisors, the concept also envisages the opening of five to six Property Lounges in strategically important locations throughout the city. These lounges are intended to serve as initial points of contact for potential clients and to rapidly increase brand awareness. The MMCs will be managed either by licence partners or by Engel & Völkers AG itself. The first Metropolitan Market Center in Barcelona is a direct investment by Engel & Völkers AG, in order for the Group to ensure the initiation and implementation of its new expansion concept.
